We can't stop staring at this bizarre but totally real animal

The Baluchistan pygmy jerboa holds the title of world's smallest rodent. Ringing it at just two inches long, it's easy to see why. 

Take a closer look at the little creature, which is native to Pakistan, the International Union for Conservation of Nature reports. 

The rodents, which we first spotted on Mic, are nocturnal herbivores and thrive in hot dessert climates. If you're not already totally convinced that they are adorable, you can listen to one chirp here. 

Those giant feet aren't just for show. Pygmy jerboas use them to jump like kangaroos.

Before you ask: no, you cannot get one for a pet. Jerboas (there are 33 different species in total) make terrible pets and some species are associated with several diseases, like monkey pox, according to this National Geographic post.
